Hi
You are gonna be just fine! My Father just had a bcc removed from his nose this morning. Surgeon will remove it the same as they treated my melanoma 7 years ago!. They wil thin slice it until all margins around that area of the skin are clean under a microscope. In about a week the pathology report should be back copnfirming tall of hte cancer has been removed. You picked a great Dr, plastic surgeon! My Dad oly had a steri strip, not even a stitch. He caught this early. I wish you all the luck in the world!~

Re: Hi
Fairy i only wish that it`s going to be so simple i have to be in hospital for a week and they are going to do skin grafts and also a cartliage graft .Even when my parents had them removed by the same surgeon they didn`t have to go through all of what i`m now facing .

Hi
Me again, I see you are not in US. When I had to have surgery for my melanoma, they took out enough of the skin, until the margins were clean, meaning no cancer cells showing. I also opted for the lymph node surgery,(sentinal node) that is in case a microscopic cell had traveled, it would have gone to first lymph node. I had three removed from my groin area, done all at the same time as melanoma removal. I did not have ot had skin graft, as I was lucky, and also did not have any fat on my leg area, so it was kinda hard stretching hte skin back to meet. Imagine punching a hole into your skin, then trying to sew the skin back together. They punched out the size of a soup can lid back of my left thigh, I was only in the hospital over night and allowed to come home the next morning. Do they not offer donor tissue for skin grafting? A friend of mine did have skin graft and placed on her lower arm for a bcc. She also was only hospitalized overnight. I do not understand why you have to be a week? My heart goes out to you, it really does. This will all be over soon and you are gonna be just fine............
