Q: Black Mold

I have been continuously dizzy for 4 months. Not spinning, just light headed and in a fog, like a numb feeling in my head, from the time I get out of bed until I go to sleep. I had all medical tests done, and everything checks out, and have run out of options. Is it possible this is a reaction to black mold? My unfinished basement leaks, however, I do not see any mold.. The rest of my family feels good

hello and welcome to ehealth.

I was having similar problems and came to find out my iron was low and was causing these dizzy flashes. go and get some blood work done to try and see what it could be. as you are the nly one in the household experiencing this it is most likely not form the mold (if there is any).

good luck

Mold....
Just because you can't see the mold, doesn't mean its not there. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a test kit. Follow the directions EXACTLY and pay the extra money to send it to the lab they have listed. The results are quick and pretty accurate. If you suffer from asthsma or allergies mold can aggrivate those conditions. If not, chances are slim to none that mold is the culprit. Are you on any meds?

I have an allergy to mold. Usually with mold you may feel itchy eyes, sinus headache, scratchy throat and sometimes symptoms in the lungs like tightness in the chest or shortness of breath. Usually a house with mold has a musky smell. But to be sure you should definitely test your house. Not everyone has symptoms and it might be affecting you in a different way because mold spores can enter in your bloodstream through the lungs.

Black mold r/t MS
I have MS and I recently moved into a condo that had a leak and once the ceiling was removed, Black mold was found. I hav been having headaches, extra fatigue, and sleepy when I come home. Will this have anything to do with the mold and an acute exacerbation to my MS?

The mold is probably putting extra stress on your body which is not good for anyone who is sick. Stress might cause your MS to worsen. Being around mold made me tired with headaches, fatigue and sleepy, also. I feel much better since I have been away from the mold. I hope you are getting the condo fixed. I had to use symptec (nasal spray) and ibuprofen for the inflamation.
