Q: For Everyone Who Has Lost a Loved One...

Today has been a sad day for me thinking about those i have lost so I want to light a virtual candle for every one who has lost a loved one

One of my favourite ever poems by Mary Frye:

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

It's eerie you should post that today, .Beckster (what do I shorten that to?!). We got our new choir music today, and one of the songs we're performing is "in remembrance," and the lyrics are that poem!

I love that poem. When my dad died I loved poems like that. Here is the poem that is my favorite now.

TIME does not bring relief; you all have lied
Who told me time would ease me of my pain!
I miss him in the weeping of the rain;
I want him at the shrinking of the tide;
The old snows melt from every mountain-side, 5
And last year’s leaves are smoke in every lane;
But last year’s bitter loving must remain
Heaped on my heart, and my old thoughts abide!

There are a hundred places where I fear
To go,—so with his memory they brim! 10
And entering with relief some quiet place
Where never fell his foot or shone his face
I say, “There is no memory of him here!”
And so stand stricken, so remembering him!
