Q: Infant Cpr

I was just curious how many mommies on this board know infant cpr. I think all mommies should take a class, because it's so important to know what to do if your child chokes or stops breathing. I want to get certified soon.

Thoughts? Opinions? Experiences?

i've never taken any classes.. i've read up a lot on it, but a class would be nice.

i just watch my kids well enough to know they arent sticking anything in their mouths to choke on in the first place. My kids are never out of my sight, im too over-protective lol.

I've never taken an actual course, but have been watched over by a Dr. and been given the ".o.k" in my technique.

It's a scary thing that I hope I never have to do!

When I was .oni's age, my .aunt gave me a cantelope ball and it got lodged in my throat. My mom was slamming my back and it didn't work, so my aunt flipped my upside down and hit my back going towards my head. It come *flying* out!

I will never give .oni anything that's larger or more round than her thumb.

but you never know if jacob's going to choke on a piece of food.

i like to think in the case of an emergency it would all come back to me, but i don't know.

I need to take a course...just to be "certified"...

Staying calm in the situation is key. ANd not many people can keep their cool if their child is turning blue.

God, what a horrible image. Crying or Very sad

i'm normally very cool and collected but i'm sure i'd be freaking out in an emergency.

not that she's always home, but i take comfort in knowing my downstairs neighbor is a pediatric nurse and i can just run down there if i need her.

The day after .Kaylee & I came home from the hospital 2 nurses came here to the house to do just a little run through as to how to do infant cpr. All they pretty much did was explain what to do & they gave me a paper that walks through the steps with pictures & everything. I keep that paper on her dresser at all times.. I learned it in high school too & I was certified in adult & infant cpr at one point in time too but.. Yeah.. It'd be great to take a class just in case I ever needed to do it.

When I was in high school, and babysat a lot I was certified in both adult and infant .c.p.r. But that's been awhile, so I definately need to be refreshed. Good topic btw.

I'm not a mommy, but I know infant and adult .c.p.r. I'm red cross certified in first aid, cpr, heimlich maneuver, and babysitting.
i was babysitting a 4yo once who started choking on a hot dog her parents gave her before they even left. her mom freaked out (understandably) and i did the heimlich and thank god she's okay. her parents decided not to go out after all, but i got paid what i would have gotten for sitting because i kept my cool.
i would .H.A.T.E for something major to happen where i'd really need all of my certs, but at least i'm prepared.

I have to take CPR for my job. It expires every 2 years. I have kept it up for 18 years!!! By the graces of .God I have never had to use it. It is one of those things you never forget, like riding a bike.

We were at a chinese buffet last week and a little toddler shoved a bunch of chicken into her mouth and started to choke. I was ready!!!
