Hey guys

. Today in Chemistry class, about 11:00am pst I was doing a calorimeter experiment with various salts, one being NaOH. While pouring it out I accidently inhaled some of the vapor and I could feel some of the NaOH dust go up my nose. The mucus in my nose must have caught it, because after a little while I needed to swallow some mucus. I thought of the dust and tried to spit it out but I could not. After swallowing it got caught in my throat slightly and after a short while began to burn slightly and emit heat, as it does when it reacts with water. It didnt last long and wasnt painful, but it did irritate my upper throat.
The slight uncomfort and feeling of the irritation went away shortly after, and I didnt think much of it. When I was being driven home, however, I was drinking a bottle of juice and it seems like it made my throat act up a little again, probably from the corroded area becoming irritated or something of that sort. I called my doctors office when I got home at 3:00pm and asked their advice. They said to drink plenty of water, gurgle with warm water and use things such as cough drops. As long as my throat doesnt swell to the point where I have trouble breathing or swallowing I should be fine they said. My throat isnt really causing too much trouble, I feel like the effected area in my throat is slightly swollen and it is emmitting a low barely noticeable uncomfort, kind of like pain, in the effected area.
Would anyone please give me a second opinion or any other information on the matter? I am not too concerned at this point but I dont want this to sneak up on me later

. Thanks alot, I appreciate it.
