My girlfriend started taking Loestra 24 as
the first birth control she has ever taken
however it belonged to her roommate. She
has never seen a doctor for BCP exam. She
has been through the first pack without
problems and we are still using condoms.
Should she see a doctor before we use it
as our primary type of birth control?
Would we know if she was immune to the
hormones? Thank you

Technically, you are never supposed to
take someone else's medications, and women
are supposed to see an ob-gyn when they
become sexually active.

She needs to go get a pap smear, period.
This is not dangerous, nor is it normally
painful. Is it uncomfortable? Well yeah,
you've got someone sticking something in
your vagina when you don't want it do be
there But she needs to
get this done.
Go to a planned parenthood. If she is a
student, she can get the procedure and
pills for free.

She shouldn't be taking anyone elses
medication, doctors need to prescribe it
for the specific person so what is right
for her friend may not be right for her.
Get her to go and get her own bcp (and
smear) and until then use condoms.

Its never a good idea to take meds not
prescribed to you, because you dont know
if you could have complications.
