For the past 2 years, I have had bleeding approx. 5-7 days before my actual period even starts. It is brown in color and ranges from light to heavy whereas during my actual period, the bleeding is red. It usually lasts 3-4 days and stops just before I get my period. I am on BCPs and I have been seem by the MD for it. I have tried increased hormones in pills, went off my BCPs for a while, and even had a hysteroscopy done. I had one small polyp removed, which my MD said could have caused it. However, the bleeding has continued. I have no other symptoms while I am having the abnormal bleeding. i am still really worried about it, as I'd hate to think it is something more serious. Any help?!?!?

I have had that for many years and was told that it's actually old blood - that is why it's darker whereas during your period it's fresh blood -- I don't know what it is but was told hormonal changes -- i have had many years of normal paps having that symptom (I'm 43 now) - so try not to worry but I would still tell your doc just to make sure.

Good luck
