Scarlet Fever!!!! Ugh! Posted: 03-13-07 21:12pm
my 5 year old daughter developed a rash
sunday and it kept spreading so i took her
to the dr office yesterday her dr was gone
yet again! so another sub dr was in his
place they the secretary said if you get
here in 15 min ( i live 8 min away) he
would see me right away 2 suckers later we
get called in he takes less then 5 min to
look at her says i have no idea what it
is....what did i wait for 2 freaken hours
for then. so today my 4 year old wakes up
so i get him ready for a bath only to
discover that he is covered from head to
toe with a rash and welts what i thought
the school yet again gave hinm something
that they shouldnt have that he was
allergic to so i made an appt with his
allergist/imunologist and while i was
waiting in his office he walked in took
one look at my 2 kids and said when did
they come down with scarlet fever? seems
that the preschool that they go to in the
morning had strep going around and that in
turn can turn into scarlet fever my 4 year
old has it really bad poor baby i feel so
bad for him now he has a high fever that
doesnt want to go down and yesterday was
his first day back to school after a 2
week off cause of surgery and now he has
to miss this week cause of this. i am
exhausted. any one elses kids have this
right now???

Aww, I can't even imagine how you feel.
Your poor kids. I haven't experienced this
at all, but I sure do feel sorry for you
and your little ones. I hope they feel
better soon!

whoa. Maybe .i'm
sheltered, but I didn't think scarlet
fever even really existed anymore. Do they
offer a vaccine against it?

I've never heard of a vaccine for scarlet
fever.
But I honestly didn't think people got it
anymore. Whoa, that's crazy. I just
googled it. Anyone can get it from having
strep but not everyone is sensitive to it.
I've had strep a million times and never
got it. I'm sorry, girl! I hope your
babas feel better soon.

no no vaccine wich scares me because
people used to die from it way back then.
my 5 year old hers is fading but his is
worse and with his fever not going down it
scares me but the dr gave me 2 antibiotics
for each of them. thankfully my 9 year old
hasnt come down with it.unfortunately my
throat is kind of sore and i noticed some
poka dots forming hopefully just sore from
dryness. no sleep for the weery tonight

You think you feel bad? My sister thought
her 4 year old was being a wuss about his
sore throat...he ended up getting Scarlet
Fever. Needless to say, she felt
awful...however, I too had no idea it was
even around anymore (like Yellow Fever,
etc.), but obviously it can still pop up.
She won't be ignoring his sore throats in
the future...
