Side Effect to Reflux
Posted: 03-13-07 16:22pm

I have been on nexium for 3 years and i have had chronic reflux for over 10 years (due to asthma), i ignored it, which was a big mistake. i started to notice changes in my throat, choking, clearing of the throat, and throat blockage.. I went to see and ENT and i was diagnosed with VCD Vocal Cord Dysfunction, which can be caused by reflux.. Now i am doing better on less nexium and i stopped what could have been a very serious problem.. DON'T IGNORE REFLUX!

Yes, that is correct Reflux can be very dangerous to us...because this is the cause of the weakening of our Lower Esophageal Sphincter that the acid can flow back into our esophagus.

This can also lead to heartburn, the discomfort feeling of burning behind our breastbone.

Vcd And Gallbladder
Posted: 04-10-07 23:10pm

I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this. Several years ago I was diagnosed with VCD. I have had very severe laryngospasms for several years, passing out often with them because the vocal cords stay closed completely for as long as 2 1/2 minutes. That's a nightmare of a story in itself, but I wont go into that.

Since having my gallbladder out one year ago, I do not have the severe laryngospams any more. It has now been exactly one year since my surgery and I do have mild laryngospasms, but nothing like before. Now they are more like what the doctors describe. There has to be some connection between the two. Since my gallbladder was only barely functioning, it reasons that the stomach contents/acid/bile or whatever was backing up. The more reflux someone has, the worse the laryngospasms.

Anyone with anything similar?
