Basically, you take the active pills at the same time everyday. There should be 21 active pills and 7 non active (placebos). The week of the placebo pills should be the week you get your period.

Seriously, don't doctors tell their patients how to take medication anymore, or do people not listen?

You take the first active pill, on any kind of birth control. You don't start with the brown ones.

The youth clinic doctor explained it to me and I also read the little booklet twice.

I didn't intent to sound so mean but, if the doctor did explain and you did read the packet, then why did you only seem to know something about taking it the first day of your period?

Are you talking to judith8806 or me?
I dont know why everyone thinks you should take it on the first day of your period. I didn't do that. I took it the first sunday I got my pills, which was LOONG before my period.

Thats the point:

there are two ways to start and I'm sure the doctor told her about both ways, but she apparently forgot or didn't understand.

You either start the first day of your period, no matter what day of the week it is,

Or

You start the first available sunday, which is what you did. it's what I did, too.

Girls really need to start asking their doctor's more questions when they get the pills or read though the booklet that comes with the birth control. I read it 2-4 times just to make sure.
