onion smell
I am just now having this problem. I am pregnant in my 3rd trimester and I have gestational diabetes. I do not eat onions. I hate onions. I cook with them when I absolutely have to, but that is not very often. I have been taking iron pills and think this may be part of the cause of the onion smell as it is a sulfate. I feel like the smell comes from the inside of the vagina, the mucus. The smell is not pronounced unless my vaginal discharge has increased and leaks out. Due to the pregnancy, the discharge has increased significantly in this last trimester. The answer that makes the most sense for me, is that it is your bodies way of showing there is something wrong, like Diabetes (which I currently have) or a kidney problem, perhaps it is just caused by the high stress factor and no stress release.

Don't worry...you are not alone.
I notice the smell on me as well but the only time I really notice it is after some time (hours) have passed since I last showered. The later in the day it gets the stronger the smell. The smells been a bit more noticable in the last couple days and I believe I should be starting my period in a few days. (Actually I'm hoping and praying I won't be since my husband and I are trying to conceive.) I was trying to think if I'd eaten or done anything out of the oridinary in the past couple days but really the only thing I can think of is I haven't been drinking a whole lot of fluids. But I think it's mainly just from sweating thoughout the day in that area. That with a mix of some discharge. Awww...the joys of being a female. Ok...this might sound a little gross but as a kid I was never told or taught to wipe from front to back and I still haven't gotten in the habit of "wiping" the correct way. I wonder if maybe that could also be causing the odor. I am a little on the heavy side and I recently went and got a physical...both a pap and just a general physical and overall I am pretty healthy so I know it isn't STD's or anything of that nature. I hope this helped someone out.

Ughhh go awayyy :(
I'm glad I'm not the only one who just had this start happening to them Randomly.I'm 23,and I've only seemed to have the problem for the last 2 moths or so,not even that long at all.I have NO IDEA why this is happening. The only thing I can think of is increasing my coffee/lemon intake by a ton..but this also sorta doesn't make sense to me because I've been a 2 cup a day coffee drinker for years. It could be a decrease in my water intake,an increase in foods with high acidity levels, and honestly probably my lack of being able to shower every single day like I used to (my job is insane - I only have time to every other day now).I'm not sure but I'm going to try and cut back adding lemon to my water, cut back on my coffee, and drink way more water and see if this helps.I've never had such problems with sweating or smells before, and its super embarrassing and hard to wanna be intimate with my boyfriend EVER because I feel so gross and dirty :/
I will keep checking back here and let you guys know if this helps me,along with maybe taking some probiotic supplements and mulitvitamins.

When I was younger I was allergic to onions really bad. Yet at the same time my step father loved onions and I had to cook for him most of the time. Every time I even got near an onion, the smell would start coming from my vagina. The weirdest part is that I never even used to eat onions. I understand what you are going through. I find that taking a nice bubble bath and then lathering up in some sweet smelling lotion helps. And it distracts you from the smell.

Now deodorant cream to stop feminine odor in the bikini zone
Try Now Deodorant cream to stop onion odor in feminine zone, bikini zone where you sweat. It appears that it kills the odor & bacteria that comes off the apocrine sweat gland area. Use very sparingly & just from experimentation it seems to also help the irritation from shaving. I found out about the odor killing properties b/c I tried it to soothe the shaving irritation & voila! It has arnica, grapefruit extract & zinc oxide, calendula & I'm guessing that's what helps with the soothing & bacteria killing.

Why you have the onion smell in your vagina
I have the answer for everyone..The onion smell that you smell does not come from eating onions, drinking coffee, bad kidneys and none of that stuff.First of all sometimes when the vagina sweats and does not get air the vagina will or can smell like musk somewhat like under your arm pits and i recommend using a good natural soap and vaseline and a little talcom powder on the top of the vagina where the musk smell starts. You should wash the vagina three times daily, but no scrubbing and putting soap directly into the vagina, but try and keep the vagina dry and wear nice fitting cotton panties that are not too tight...Now for the onion smell this comes from a build up of yeast inside of the vagina that is sometimes accompanied by a slight bacterial infection. What happens is a lot of times there is yeast inside of the vagina and it is not always noticeable,Nd this yeast may cause another form of bacterial to form if untreated..This can come from sex, using sexual toy objects, not wearing underwear while wearing jeans etc. There are many things that this yeast and bacterial infection can come from.If you notice the onion smell you will also find that it is accompanied with yeast..My recommendation is to go to your doctor and get treated for a bacterial infection..This will cure the onion smell...Yeast and bacterial mixed together causes an onion smell...Yeast by itself causes a yeasty smell.almost like cottage cheese or yeast made from dough...A bacterial infection alone causes a fishy odor. Usually when the vagina smells out of the ordinary it is a sign of the vagina telling you that its not feeling well and we need to go to the gyn asap....Please do not douche because douching causes infection and is not healthy for the vagina..The vagina does its part naturally and if you have a strange odor douching will not get rid of it it will only make matters worse, because you cannot wash away infection only medicine can do this. When you douch you kill the good bacteria that helps to keep the vagina safe and clean...So with all of this said..do not use perfumes in the vaginal area,do not use shampoo's,do not use unprotected foreign objects down there,do not have unprotected sex,and do not have oral sex with unknown partners as you can get bacterial infections and diseases from someones mouth into your vagina if their mouth is nasty and infected with something catchy.....I hope this was helpful...Ladies please take care of yourselves because you bodies and lives depend on it.

Oh it's so reassuring to read that other people get this! Its started to happen to me, I seem to have noticed it since I had the coil fitted, does that relate to anybody else? It really inhibits me sexually, even though my boyfriend is reassuring! But I am going to start a daily chart, reporting the onion smell according to what I eat/wear that day! I think I will definitely give up tea. I never used to drink it, and thinking about it, it has coincided with that!

Onion Smell
It happens to me everytime I eat have to chop up onions for something I am cooking. Whenever I eat onions, I can smell then down there the same night and a few days after, there's not much you can do about it, but use a feminine spray and powder down there to soak it up and cover it up, but its just coming from your sweat glands. Nothing serious, just annoying.

Onion Smell in Vagina
Yeah, I get it every time I cut up onions. It smells on my hands, even after washing several times and my vaginal area smells like it too. Sounds like people can get this smell for multiple reasons. But it only happens to me when I cut onions and then goes away. I can eat onions and it doesn't happen. Just when I hold them, touch them and cut them up. Cut two today and the smell is back. I don't cook often, so it's very clear to me that it's only when I cut onions. The smell goes away with a good soak in the tub and drinking lots of water. Must absorb through your skin in some way. If it's something more constant for you, it could be many issues from a VD to a yeast infection to overactive/clogged sweat glands down there. But if it's occasional, I wouldn't worry.

I must say that I agree with almost everyone who has posted in the past 3 years. This is the first time happening to me so I was truly concerned. No amount of body spray, scrubbing, changing underwear or lotions even kind of covered it. I eat onions at least 2 times a week either cooked or raw and always sweet onions. This smell COULD be a sign of a uti. Azo (the same company that makes cranberry pills) makes at home uti test strips. If you test positive on them then you need to seek medical help immediately. I contracted a uti that quickly turned into pylonephritis(spelling). I was hospitalized for 3 days on iv antibiotics. This could just as easily be from diet and touching strong smelling foods. As well, I have been under extreme stress lately. I have tested positive for a uti, I ate raw onions two days ago, and I am stressed out and this is the first time noticing this smell. Good luck ladies. Take peace in knowing you are not alone.

I had this problem for years, off and on, and wish I'd known this sooner. Try a product called REPHRESH. It is AMAZING and works immediately. The odor can be caused by an overgrowth of bacteria, such as gardnerella. REPHRESH is a lubricant that can be applied as often as every 3 days and it balances the pH of the vagina, making it harder for the bacteria to overgrow. Many gynecologists recommend it for vaginal odor or recurring bacterial vaginosis. It may not work for everyone, but I've seen so many other testimonials online from people who think this product is a miracle. Try it! It worked immediately for me. I feel normal--finally! I buy it for about $13-14 for 4 applicators at Target.

Bacterial Vaginosis
I'M SO GLAD THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!! When I work out, my sweat does NOT smell like onions, but when i take off my pants the onion smell comes out! SOO nasty!! And when I have sex!! Eddrr!! Last time I had sex, I started crying because of the smell Sad I HATE onions!! And now my vagina smells like one Sad

I have done a loooot of research, and the closest I come to an answer is Bacterial Vaginosis.. A lot of places they say that it has a fishy smell, but some places they say that it can have a smell of onions..

Then I have read, that Fem-Dophilus should be the BEST treatment! So ladies.. Let's try Fem-Dophilus!!
