Q: Swelling In Hands In Postpartum Period

I experienced swelling in my hands and feet during my pregnancy, but now, a month later I would have expected the swelling and pain (especially in the joint in my hands) to go down and even disappear. IS this normal? Also, my swelling in worse in the morning, not in the evening as most women. Is there something i can do to relieve the joint pain in my hands or is this something that I should seek medical advice for?

Thanks,
M.D.

eh id think to see a dr bout that one, get your blood pressure etc rechecked and such to make sure. i would think it would have went away a week or so after the birth.

If the swelling in my hands and feet doesn't go away after I have the baby, I swear I will break down and cry.

I can't fit my feet into anything besides these really ugly slip on shoes, and if I were to take them off mid day, they are not going back on.
I can't even fit into crocs, and that's sad, really really sad.

My hands are so swollen and sore. I have no fine motor skills. I can't even write. Typing is painful.

its absolutely normal.

Sometimes.

If you had any blood pressure problems durring pregnancy, and sometimes even when you didnt you can develop preeclampsia or hellp syndrome after birth.

I'd call your ob/gyn and let them know. It wouldnt hurt to get checked out.
