I had a complete historectomy in 05, I'm 47 now. I was in so much pain that I couldn't function without pain meds. The docs thought I might have had endometriosis, and knew that I had fibroid tumors, small ones. They told me that I shouldn't be experiencing pain at the level I complained of! HA, they should have been in my body!
When they did my historectomy they actually found that my bladder was completely attached to my uterus from scar tissue from my 2 c-sections. Luckily I had decided to have a bladder sling to help the loss of urine when I worked out, coughed or laughed to hard. So I had two doctors in there at the same time. Lucky me. (I thought as long as they're going to be down there)
The historectomy was the best thing I ever did. No more pain, none! Yes, I gained weight but I think that's due to my not working out and totally eating everything!
I recommend the procedure if you're in pain. Get the best doctor on your side, one that will answer your questions!
The hardest part for me was hormone replacement therapy. I hadn't gone through menapause and it took a while to find the right prescription. But we did and things are great now.
Good Luck, Sherri
