Q: Scleraderma Diet

My mother is eighty one years old and suffering badly with Scleraderma. The type she has is affecting her esophagus and intestines and internal organs. Her symptoms include chronic diareah, coughing, fatigue and weight loss. I am interested in researching an appropriate diet her system can draw nutrients from. Also, I'd like to know what may help to balance her intestinal flora as she had been diagnosed with bacterial overgrowth in the past.

Scleroderma also..................
I have Scleroderma also and have several of the symptoms you suggested. I have been told by my doc that the reason that we have such stomach problems is one: esophagus problems which cause severe acid reflex (Is she on any meds for this? I take protonix and it works great! They also say to elevate head of bed, do not eat before before bed....etc) two: scleroderma affects intestines causing them to slow down. I take B12 shots which they say help that! I did have the cronic diarhea also but once I started taking the protonix and b12 shots, it went away.
