24 yr. Old man with diabetes for 5 years requires gallbladder removal.
Dr. Says bile duct is mildly inflamed, so ordered mrcp test for 2/7/04.
If no conclusions are drawn from that, an ercp test will be recommended.
I have read everything I can on the ercp and it scares me. As his grandmother, I would like to know #1, how safe is it? #2, what are the treatment methods if there is a stone in the duct, #3, will his diabetes influence methods? #4, pro's and con's on open surgery as opposed to laparoscopic. Confused
