General Q&A Answer A2460
It is difficult to diagnose a “bump” on the neck without a visual exam. Generally, bumps can be considered tumors. Tumors can originate from the skin, the fatty tissue under the skin and from the muscles or bones. Tumors that originate from the skin or fatty tissue under the skin are moveable. Tumors that origin from the muscles and bones are not moveable. Both cysts and lymph nodes originate from the fat tissue under the skin. You can follow up with your primary physician and request a general examination of the area, with referrals to specialists, if needed.
