Q: Vegetarians Who Are Hyperglycemic

Hi,
I have not been diagnosed with hyperglycemia but I think that I may have it. (I went to the doctor with hyperglycemic symptoms but he said it was just stress-although now I have found out that stress is in fact a side effect from hyperglycema).
Why am I writing this is because I am a vegetarian and I have read that people who don't eat meat are more likely to develop this disease. I also read that not many carbohydrates should be eaten (including vegetable carbohydrates), no sugars, etc. Also that one should avoid fruit. In the end, what am I left with eating? I do not want to result to eating meat, that is not an option. If anyone even knows a website that would help me with this if they do not exactly know themselves that would also help.
Thank you for your time.

This is a serious problem for vegetarians. First off, I suggest you do a lot of reading on organic meats and the raising of free range animals. Animal meat and fat is essential to living and if you don't eat meat because you're afraid of heart disease and so forth, there are certain considerations you need to know about. For example, eating regular meat is in fact, not very good for you, but it's not because it's from an animal, it's because the factory farms pump them with so many chemicals it's affecting our bodies. If you really must avoid meat, the only thing you really have left is lots and lots of cheese. Soy is not recommended. Why? This is something many vegetarians don't know about and why many, in fact all that I've known, end up looking sickly after awhile. Soy is not a traditional food source in Asian, it's a condiment that you eat with other things. Our bodies cannot take large amounts of it, and the reason is because soy contains very high levels of phytic acid, which our bodies lack the enzyme to digest. Thus, our bodies have to get it through our system another way, by attaching nutrients and vitamins to the molecules so they pass through us, thus slowly sapping your resources and making your skin look like crap, your immune system drop and so forth. If you must eat soy eat it in moderation and unfortunately you'll have to eat it in pure form because if you look at products made from soy like the burgers or hot dogs, they all contain sugar to make them taste better so scratch that off your list. You could also try protein powder, but there is really only one you can have and it doesn't taste like anything. Jay Robb makes it, it's the only kind I've found that hypoglycemics can tolerate, the rest have bad additives and things you can't eat. The hard fact is that it's nearly impossible to do this and be a vegetarian, you'll have to eat ridiculous amounts of greens and particle from the food will start to build up around your gums and your teeth will change color. You're probably going to have to add some meat back in, perhaps eggs? I know vegetarians that eat just eggs, and they're the best source of protein on the planet essentially. Why don't you eat meat?

Moral reasons is one thing, the hormone thing is another, which is easily avoided by eating free range, organic meat or meat from a family farm where they don't use such garbage. It's not going to be easy for you and you unforuntately may have to make a change if you want to make any progress.

Lenses
You should eat lentils. Lentils are equal amounts Carbohydrate and Protein, and have a very low glycemic index which means their starch is broken down very slowly. A one pound bag of lentils has 140 grams of usable carbs, 113 grams of protein, 980 calories, and costs about 80 cents. You can start with half a bag or less a day. Sort for pebbles, heat in a pot of water over medium flame for ten minutes, and strain. Add salt, pepper, and a little garlic powder. Eat a few fork-fulls every hour and a half. Works great for me.

If it works, try it, but I've talked to a few people, and including myself, can tell you that lentils don't wory very well. If you're sugar was tested at dropping every 1-2 hours there's not much of a chance they will.
