my husband pulled his right shoulder in high school lifting weights. The doctors gave him pain medication and physical therapy then told him he needed surgery, to which his mother never carried out. We can't afford surgery now and the pain is still ongoing for him. It happened about 4 years ago and he gets constant sharp pains in his shoulder. It's hard for him to do anything that requires him to use the muscles in his right shoulder, and it only seems to be getting worse. We know he needs surgery, but until we find a suitable payment option, is there anything he can do to relieve his aches? BTW it was his rotary cuff that got injured.

Can he lift his right hand up to the ceiling? If so, then he could stand beneath a doorway in your house and with two hands touching the top of the door's frame - he needs to push his body a bit forward, stretching the shoulder muscles.

Another way is applying ice to reduce swelling and inflammation temporarily.
