Hi all, i'm new here and i'm on here for
only one reason...To try to fathom out
what on earth is wrong with me!]
for the past 7 weeks, i've had this
strange feeling in my throat, behind my
"adam's apple". It's like i'm constantly
on the verge of belching, and it feels
like severe indigestion. But how can I
have it for 7 weeks nonstop? I even tried
burping as much as I possibly could, and
it just never seems to run out, the
belching keeps on coming.
it feels like there's a slight lump/pebble
in my throat like I usually get with
indigestion, but it's never been
this...Undending. And the supply of gas
(or the amount my throat muscles seem to
think there's gas to expel) is simply
ridiculous. My doctor is a totally
arrogant twit who dismissed it as
indigestion. As always.
This stupid problem is a constant niggling
annoyance in my life, so any ideas as to
what it is/how to help it would be most
appreciated!
Jabba! I am have the exact same problem.
You described it perfectly. I've been
trying to burp for 2 weeks! I am really
hoping that it has something to do with
sinuses. I know i've posted late but let
me know if you find out anything.

Well, I went to my doctor. She claims
it's probably something gastric: I skip
breakfast every day which creates excess
acid in my empty stomach, which then
creates excess gas. However, I really
don't think that this is the explanation
for the problem. I've started eating more
every day, and am taking medication for it
(though it's for irritable bowel syndrome,
which I clearly don't have, so god knows
why). I have a vague feeling that it's
perhaps some form of throat spasm, or lax
throat muscles, which work constantly in
preparation of a belch, though the stuff
that passes out isn't actually "gas", but
air.
I'm going to se my doctor in a week or so
to update them on the progress of the
medication etc, and i'll tell them what I
think. If I get any results, i'll drop
you a note. Likewise, if you come across
any information, please email me at jabba

I have the same problem. Did you get an
answer, please let me know, I am going
crazy with this thing. I have been to
the Dr. And had every test on my
digestive system done know to man, the
only thing I got out of it was a great big
bill. I have always told the Dr. I felt
like it was my throat, it started after I
had surgery in jan 05.

Ok, just got an email from another guy
about this:
"read about your throat problem on
ehealth. I've been reading story after
story of people having the same or similar
symptoms and noone has found a cure or
even the cause.
Sorry to say I havn't found anything
either. I'm writing in hopes that you
have found something. Please let me know
if you have.
I have had mine only a month and a half,
been to the Dr., given anti-biotics, went
to the ent clinic and got a nose probe.
Nothing. Also told it had something to do
with acid reflux and she increased my
dosage. What if it is the medicine that
is causing these throat problems. That
seems to be when mine started, a couple
months after I began taking prilosec.
Anyway, wish I had some good news."
interesting indeed. Perhaps this is very
much a new problem which has quietly
arisen and gone unnoticed, assumed to be
lesser, more familiar problems. If anyone
reads this and actually knows any decent
doctors who can get a throat-probe done
(i.E. With a fiber optic camera etc),
that'd be absolutely great...There's not
much way we could convince anyone of the
realness of the problem, nor the fact that
it's something new, unless they see the
throat for themselves.

I've had the same problem for a week. I
have not been able to eat real food, only
popsicles, pudding, ice cream. My throat
feels tense, and it feels like I have a
lump in the back of my throat. I've
tried eating normal food, and it feels
like it gets stuck right after I swallow,
and I have to rush and drink water.
I have been to an ear, nose, & throat
doc. He did not find anything. Said it
must be acid reflux. Put me on nexium.
Still no relief

Hmmm...Interesting, so all the doctors
seem to dismiss this as some sort of acid
reflux, or variation thereof. May I just
ask; have any of you suffered any other
consistent throat problems before? Also,
are any of you asthmatic? I am myself,
and it wouldn't surprise me if the asthma
off-set some adverse throat-muscle
reaction to something we have all
experienced, perhaps.
