Q: Itchy skin after Mole removal
asked by: DoctorQuestion on March 4th, 2007
I have had this problem since 2 years ago and it has never gone away. I believe it started after i went to a cheap place to get a mole removed from my lip which didn't work (at least i think this is why) On the corner of my mouth started to get really itchy and eventually started to get fleshy and wet and no matter how much i dried or washed it, it would just get wet again, then it moved to the other corner. My parents finally took me to the doctor and he gave me this medicine, which he never told me what it was and it went away, but a few weeks after i stopped using it, it came straight back. So i just kept using it and using it, till i had enough.
So i went back to the same doctor and he prescribed me the same medicine acyclovir (spelling?). That didn't work then i went to a dermatologist thats when he prescribed me Fluocinolone Acetonide Ointment, USP, 0.02 After about a week i started getting pimples all over the area same with the other prescription. Please help its been to long

General Q&A Answer A2457
Given the description you provide, it is impossible to diagnose the irritation on your mouth. It seems that neither of your doctors are sure what is the real problem, either. You’ve used 3 types of drugs: corticosteroids, anti-yeast drug (clotrimazole) and anti-herpes drug (acyclovir). Corticosteroids are not used (contraindicated) for viral or yeast infections because they can worsen the condition. They are used only for allergic skin lesions.
You might try to find yourself a good dermatologist that can identify a real diagnosis and recommend proper treatment.
