I am 24 years old and was just diagnosed with Polymyositis about 8 months ago. It began slowly and got worse over time. By the time I knew something was really wrong, I had lost over 40 pounds and could barely walk. I had dark bruises all over my legs from no were. I was tired all the time and weak. I couldnt pick up my own son to put him in his car seat.

I finally went to the doctor and they immediately found out that my CPK levels that normally would have been between 70-120, where at over 19,000! My liver was also inflammed and I was literally deteriorating. They immediately started me on 40 MG of prednisone a day and that drastically changed my CPK levels to 16000 in a little over a month and it went lower and lower from there until around 2500(where it is now).

About 2 months ago I began this new medication called Azathioprine or the generic for Imuran. I was told by my Doctor not to get pregnant, but did I listen. NO! Now Im stuck between a rock and a hard place because I want another child but I cant take these meds while pregnant, and if I dont take the meds my health will get worse again. And whos to say my muscles will even be strong enough to hold it full term. Also the meds already in my system have the potential of causing my unborn child to have defects. I have stopped taking the meds since I found out and already I am in alot of pain. Not unbareable but It will probably get there the bigger I get.

Any hoo, here is the question I have for a Doctor or from anyone that has gone full term while having PM... WHAT SHOULD I DO? ANYONE WITH ANY ADVISE WILL HELP?
