I posted this once before but Im going to post it again. I am adicted to over the counter meds, I dont take very many a day but I at least take 2 a day for the past 3 years... I have really bad upper back (from sports I am guessing) a bad neck and BAD headaches. I wonder what damage I am really doing, or if since its in moderation, is it really even affecting me much. I also have been hooked on caffine I take meds with caffine (excedrine, midol) and drink caffine all day.... I am a preschool teacher so I have to be on top of my game all day. I dont know how to kick these habbits and wonder if I really even need to. I dont think they are extreme, I dont drink(ver often), smoke and I am otherwise really healthy. What do you think?

Hey! I dont know how you do it girl!! Im also a trained preschool teacher and theres no way i could do it while filled with caffeine. It might have a different effect on you than me. Its probably also not the best thing to do around children as you are the role model.

Have you tried not taking the tablets?? If so, what happens?? When you talk about caffiene are you talking about coffee and coca cola??

See that while you have holidays that you can change some of your habits.
For instance you can start to replace a few coffes per day with decaf or
green tea instead.

Your body is hooked on caffeine - that means the only way you can get rid
of it is if you slowly reduce your dose and get your body used to a life without it.

Of course you will still suffer from withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, but if you have the free time you can also get a short nap instead of another coffee.

Good luck and ask if you have more questions.

"addiction?"
Addiction as sin and syndrome: Addiction has been extended, however, to include mood-altering behaviors or activities. Some researchers speak of two types of addictions: substance addictions (for example, alcoholism , drug abuse , and smoking) and process addictions (for example, gambling, spending, shopping, eating, and sexual activity. The only reason I question this is because even a mental midget like me knows that people can intellectualize anything they like, often hiding from the real problem.Wanna talk to this mental midget? Thanks "The Cat" for the input. The distinction between process and substance addictions is very interesting. And yes there might be something behind the addiction...

But fact is that once the body is hooked on a substance (and that includes caffeine, not just alcohol or smoking which everybody talks about) it will take some time and some pain to get rid of it again. But it does not have to be so hard if you know how...
