My mom has taking the medicine risperdal
for about two years. Her doctor took her
off the medicine and now she is having a
relapse. Should I call her doctor? She
doesnt want to go back on medications and
she keeps saying nothing is wrong with
her. I want to help her before the
symptoms get real bad again. My parents
can afford insurance. Is there something
my mom could get on to pay for her therapy
and medications?

There is always medical assistance,
depending on age. I believe the state
eventually gives support, but
unfortunately that's only after you've
been institutionalized against your wishes
at least five times I believe for a period
over three days.

Your mom is going to have to want help. I
don't know where you are, but the system
is set up to protect her autonomy. No one
is going to be able to force meds on her
until it gets exteme. Again, this all
depends on where exactly you are.

And thus the constant problem with mental
health. Based on law, she's allowed to be
as insane as she wants as long as it
doesn't threaten her life or anyone
else's.
