Q: Sinus Surgery

About 3 weeks ago i had a laser surgery done called, IRC, i believe. Basically what it does is uses lasers to shrink the sinus membranes to prevent infections and such in the future. Im not sure if anyone else has had something similar to it done. Anyways, since i had it done i've had a lot of nasal problems. I had major sinus pressure in the beginning as well as eye irritation, both of which have dissapeared now. Now what i have is the feeling of stuffiness, but no mucus comes out. Also i have excessive post-nasal drip that is very thick and irritating. Claritin wont stop the drip. And i have a tightness in the throat around my "adams apple" and in the back of the throat behind the mouth and behind the sinus's. I don't have trouble swallowing at all, and i have a little trouble breathing which i think is due to my stuffiness in the nose that comes and goes, as well as the fact i have asthma. Does anyone know if this is normal more than 3 weeks later, or just in general? any advice or stories would be appreciated.

The stiffness you feel is related to inflammation and the healing process. This area is very vascular and has a lot of nerve innervation. That's why things dealing with our nose is very irritating to us. If you have trouble breathing you need to address this with your ENT that did the surgery. I'm sure you have done a post surgery follow up with him. If not it's time to go and see him and have your concerns addressed. Hope this helps.

I did have a follow up and he said the nose was healing nicely. He gave me humibid for the mucus, i guess to thin it out. It didn't work though and that is why i was asking here to see if anyone else has had an experience with this. Thanks for the advice though, if anyone else has anything to add i would appreciate it.
