My friend has had ear pain for the past eight years. Within those eight years there have been times where it was constant. She has had constant ear pain since November of 2006.

She has had CT scans and X-rays done and she has been tested and treated for TMJ. She went up to a specialist in Denver and she did a special ear test for about an hour and the doctor didn't even look at her old X-Rays. Instead, he just told her that he couldn't find anything and she's going to have to live with this her entire life.

I told her that I was going to look for what was causing her ear pain. She has basically given up after that last doctor she saw.

My question is, is there anything else it could possibly be? perhaps parasites or viruses that can be seen on CT scans or X-rays? I'd love some help with this.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this!

I cannot believe that a doctor would tell someone that they will have to live with this for the rest of their life; I had similar experience, where the doctor basically told me to seek pain management after recent removal of the mandibular cyst.
