when did your babies get down the hand to mouth coordination?

amelia can get her food to her mouth but can't get it into her mouth because she has it wrapped up in her hand/s. she gets too frusterated about it. It's really cute.

Hi Sunflower,
I would say my daughter developed the coordination at aproximately three and a half months(ish). At approximately five months, we gave her Gerber Fruit puffs. That encouraged her since she loves to eat!
It is very cute when they try to do things like that and get mad. It's so precious that you should videotape as much as possible.

aaww thanks. Yeah, I do give her those thingies and she likes them. she is sooo funny because she drools so much that they are normally gone before they find her mough. lol it's cute though. i gave her some mellon today and she was trying to put them in her mouth....she loves melon in the little fresh fruit feeder but not so much outside of the little bag. heheh

i love to watch her try and then get mad....so then i do it for her.

That's cute that she drools so much that it dissolves her food! How old is she? I have to say I love when my baby gets frustrated at times because it's soo funny! Babies are such blessings! She's growing so fast. I remember when I first started talking on this forum she was still in the womb and now she's 14-months-old!!! Mommies really need to cherish every moment with their little ones. Smile

I think about four months with Chu. It took another month or two for him to perfect the pincer grasp (actually be able to grap the food and get it into his mouth).

girl, you never know! It could be a week, or it could be a month. Or hell, it could be today!!! Very Happy

But don't stress if she doesn't get it soon. Oni will grab like 5 puffs, and shove them, plus her fist in her mouth.

She's got the pincer grip down pat and can "palm" her cup (hold it with one hand). But I didn't write her age down every time she busted through a milestone, so my memory is failing! ha!!

I'll put some pics up today, and one of em is .oni shoving her whole fist down her throat! lmao!!

I'm still trippin over .melia being 7 months!!!!! Shocked

Are those little gerber fruit puffs okay for babies who are still on stage 1 foods? I'm too paranoid to try .cheerios yet - .i'm terrified she'll choke. The puffs dissolve, right? Ugh, I can't believe .i'm panicing over this stuff. Answers please? Laughing

yea, the puffs dissolve.

I don't think I gave them to .oni too early. BEcause at her 7month(I think) Dr.s appt, he wanted me to start enforcing feeding herself. So I think that day I went out and bought puffs!

I know she'd get them before 7 months, cuz .Jathan wuuubs em, so he would always give her some.

I'm not sure she can have cheerios. Being that she doesn't have any teefuses! I don't think they dissolve as easily.

But, when she does...Oni *loves* the fruity cheerios!! They're sooo much cheaper than the puffs! And you get *a lot* more!!

Thank you, .sarah my love! I knew there was something I wanted to do while we were out (we had our taxes done today - woohoo) but my brain wasn't working. I wanted to swing by the store and grab some of those puffs! Damn it. I might go back out today anyway. She's 6 1/2 months, so that should be good, right?

Alyvia is rejecting her sippy cup Shocked I think it might be because she's breastfed and has almost no experience with bottles. Meh. She gets so mad when I tilt the cup and try to pour a tiny bit onto her tongue. *sigh* my little drama queen.

Alyvia gagged when I gave her stage 1 peaches. I'm not sure that she likes them. Neutral which actually makes sense, because I hate them too. What other flavors do they have? They have veggie ones too, right?

yes!!

They have sweet corn, and sweet potaote in the veggies!!! They might have more that I'm unaware of, but that's what they got here!!

The sweet corn is great!!! They were the 1st ones we got for her!!

She learned really quick how to pinch with the puffs. I would hold one puff in my hand and if she wanted it, she had to pick it up and eat it!!

cheerios dissolve way better than the gerber fruit puffs. my son choked on those cause theyre so thick and big. plus cheerios are way healthier. he didnt even like the gerber fruit puffs.

oh, really? Neutral

.i'm so scared she'll choke. I was certified in infant cpr but that was years ago, and I honestly don't know if I could help her if she choked.

We never eat .cheerios. They do dissolve? I didn't think they did at all. Ugh, now .i'm confused. Sad Sad

I didn't give .adriana cheerio's until a couple months ago, but she's been eating those puffs since about 5 or 6 months. They are a *little* bit bigger than a cheerio, but they are made to disolve...so even if she can't chew it, it will disolve with her saliva. If you want, get some and put it in your mouth to test it first, that's what I did. Adriana still likes those. They have strawberry apple, and cinnamon apple...hmm they have a few new ones I think. Even the wal-mart brand has a different selection, last I checked. But they are the same thing, only a different shape...I think the parent's choice was a tad smaller than gerber.
