Heartburn - Ugggg. Posted: 02-26-07 23:55pm
OH MY! For the past three days, I have
been getting pretty bad heartburn. I cut
out some bad heartburn provoking foods to
see if that makes a difference. Right now
my heartburn is so bad that I almost feel
stuff coming up or sitting deep in my
esophagous. It is almost difficult for me
to swallow.
I can't really find what I can take safely
during pregnancy. Please don't just tell
me something that you read off of the
internet. I want someone to reply to me
that has had this awful experience and
what the doctor stated is safe during
pregnancy.
I NEVER had this problem with my first
child. I am only 19 weeks!! This stinks!

My doc gave me a list of stuff I can take
and one of them is .T.U.M.S.
Hope that helps a little.

you're on bedriest right? Or have In got
the wrong person???
Lying down alot of the time will agrivate
the problem, (acid from the stomach coming
up into the oesphagus)
Try putting your bed up on an angle,
either by putting something under your
mattress, or, propping up the legs at the
head-end.
Gravity is your friend!!

Sandra, you can relate??
This is horrible. I will ask my doctor for
prescription if the .Tums does do the
trick. I hope it works! Thanks Momma and
Sandra for the meds info.
El, I am now on modified bed rest which
basically means don't do anything stupid.
I will try the gravity thing at night if
the other things don't work or if I get
worse. Shoot...I may just try it tonight.

heck yeah, girl! It actually kept me up at
night... And u can sk .Rob. i would cry
becuase it got so bad... i'd down a gallon
of water a night just to make it stop and
that didnt even help most of the time. I
tried milk, maalox, tums, rolaids,
everything. Nothing helped but the pepcid.
pepcid is over the counter.
avoid tums and anything with calcium.
calcium causes acid rebound in the long
run. avoid milk too. my son has severe
acid reflux, and our GI said steer clear
from tums.

I had morbid heartburn starting at around
24 weeks-till the day I
delievered!!!!!!!!!!
I would actually wake up
vomiting(refluxing) anything that I had
eaten.
Tums suck balls, but .rolaids were like
tiny circle pieces of salvation!!!
It got bad enough that I was put on
.zantac120/5(or maybe 175) by my Dr.
I would cry all day everyday...driving,
bathing, anything. The heatrburn was
soooooo horrible...and it only gets
worse...

The .Rolaids .Softchews are what helped me
best when I was pregnant. That & milk
worked wonders.
