So I quit smoking 8 days ago. I ran out
of smokes and just didn't go to the store
to get any more; just stopped cold turkey.
I have not had any of the typical
withdrawl symptons, which I find strange.
I smoked a pack a day for 8 years. I'm not
cranky nor having strong cravings to smoke
again. I thought I would be eatting more,
but have not. The only odd thing I find
myself doing is sleeping... like 16 hours
a day on the weekends and passing out
during the week around 9pm (which is super
early for me).
What's wrong with me? Has anyone quit this
easily? Is it easier to quit if you smoked
Menthols? I know that is a stupid
question, but I am running out of ideas.
I just thought I would be going through
all these horrible withdrawl symptons.
Have I not waited long enough for them to
kick in?
Thanks,
- U.N.

Hey Neighbor,
There is nothing wrong with you. Some
people don't have much of a difficult time
quitting smoking. There are people that
smoked 4 packs a day that quit without
much difficulty or withdrawal.
The reality is that the horrors of
quitting smoking have been pounded into
our heads by the pharmecudical companies,
the medical industry, the media and
probably our own past attempts. This
creates a fear to quit smoking and I'm
sure all of us at one time or another
tried to quit smoking and all we could
think about was the horrible withdrawal
and craves we would have to deal with.
When I learned about nicotine addiction
and how nicotine works, it erased my fear
of quitting. This made my quit fairly
easy, when in the past quitting was a
horrible task for me.
Just enjoy that fact that you're able to
quit and try not to worry about what you
are supposed to expect. This does not mean
that you can smoke when you choose.
What really shows the power of addiction
is not how hard or how easy it is to quit
smoking. It is how universally easy it is
to go back to smoking. One puff can put
you right back into the grip of
addiction.
Also, the reason you might be sleeping so
much is that nicotine is a stimulant. Your
body is recovering from years of this.
Your blood sugar also might be a little
low. Drink fuit juice and this might
help.
Congrats on your quit.

I have been quiit for 15 years now. Smoked
2 1/2 packs a day. Was the worse thinkg I
ever had to do i my life. I alwasy said
i'd rather have 6 kids out the butt than
try to quit smoking again. Went through a
program called smokless wellness clinic.
Damn it was hard, but the best thing I
thing I've ever done in my life. It does
my heart good to see other quit, becasue I
know how very difficult it can
be...expecaily cold turkey. My husband
went on the patch and it worked for him. I
can actually make it to the mailbox
without having to sit down and
rest.....Everything smells so much nicer
and I can breath easier. Some find it
easier to quit than others, kinda like
women having babies, Thereare those who
can just pop them out, the there are those
like my stuck in labor for 23 hours....it
takes all kinds...Just so happy for you
for giving it up! Always here to try to
help if needed!
