Q: Strange Feeling While Laying In Bed

I've had this strange recurring feeling ever since I can remember. Once in a while when I'm laying in bed trying to fall asleep, I get these strange sensations that things just aren't right. It's hard to describe but sometimes I feel things such as my body, my bed or my surroundings are either much larger or much smaller than they actually are. A good way of describing it would be saying that I feel like the walls are closed in on me. I also get almost an outer body experience accompanying this. The sensations are extremely frightening and prevent my from sleeping. When I open my eyes these sensations go away but the minute I close my eyes again they return.

Has anyone heard of this before and if so is there something that can be done? I haven't talked to a doctor about this because I'm never concerned about it until its happening.

Thanks.
