I Need Some Help And Advice Asap

Ok, there is this girl that I have been friends with for a few years, we are very good freinds I would say. Well I had always thought of her as just friend until this summer when I saw her at a Civil War Reenactment I was in. Which I had asked her to come too and she did. But this reenactment it was like I was seeing a whole new person, someone who I was very attracted too. Well I kept in contact with her through out the summer and I asked her to come to a couple of other reenactments just to kinda see if she would....and she did. So when school started again I started dating this other girl from a diffrent school and stuff. Me and the first girl, my friend really did'nt get to see each other but we kept in contact. But anyway, I broke up with this girl and wanted to ask out my friend, but she was supposedly dating this other guy, well he thought so too but when he said something to someone that they where dating she told him basicly to go to hell. Well about three weeks ago I finaly got up the nerve to ask her to go out sometime, and she said yes, so anyway I talked to her that night for about an hour and she did'nt say anything about not wanting to go out or anything, and we even talked about where to go and what day would be good for her. So anyway, the next day I got online and was talking to her and she finally said that she thought that we should just remain friends, saying that she hated it when guys tried to make something more out of a good friendship. But I have a major problem, I am extremly crazy for her, I mean more so then any other girl I have ever liked/dated anything. We are still talking about every day and are hanging out and such still. But from diffrent things she had said in the past, and diffrent comments friends of hers had made and still make, I thought that she liked me as more then a friend aswell, but I am so confussed about the whole situation I don't know what to do. Can someone please help me I really love this girl and really need some advice!

an edit to this: since I asked her out, I have sent her flowers on V.Day, She really liked them as per her telling me at school, I sent her a note telling her how I really feel about her I know she read it but has not said anything about it, She gave me her cell number when she got a new phone so that I was not calling the old one, and I called her and talked to her for about an hour and a half one night, during the call she had a bunch of freinds call which would have been the perfect chance for her to end the call if she wanted but she did'nt, telling them that she would call them back. She also was very concerned that I would be mad because she was going to prom with a buddy of mine, calling me and such to see if I was mad ( I'm not), and she also had a friend of mine prank call me one night telling me that he was dating her now and to stop sending her notes and such (which I knew wasnt true), she also is very open and honest about alot of things with me (except why she decided not to go out with me) she will tell me things that her brother and some of her friends dont even know about (her brother and I are really good friends as well) and she will trust me not say anything to him. so I don't know whats going on anymore, I am totally confused right now.

oh yes and I have triend to not let myslef have feelings for her and stuff like that, I fought my feelings for a long time, becasue one she is younger then me, and two I really did'nt want to be making a mistake and hurting our friendship at all.
