Funny how you can't respond to the doctors replies. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE WITH EATING DISORDERS NEED ANTIDEPRESSENTS. WHAT A COP OUT FOR DOCTORS TO USE THAT ANSWER FOR EVERYTHING!

I dont think they recomment antidepressants for everyone, But it seems alotof the time depression and eating disorders go hand in hand. I know a few that have eating disorders and in therapy who arent on antidepressants, but being depressed leads to changes in apetite etc. Prob why they recomment them to most people. I started therapy for my eating disorder in fall of 2003 and in spring 2004 i got antidepressants. My therapist was the one who put me on them , she set me up with an appt with the psychiatrist and was evaluated etc before given any medication

You know why they prescribe them? Because in order to continue therapy they have to diagnose you with something, otherwise the insureance companies wont pay for your therapy. usually they pick depression, because it can't be disputed. The patients then begin to believe something is truely wrong with them, and they have an "illness" .

so they are willing to sacrafice your brain chemistry and chance at mental health by filling you full of self doubt and pills. GET OFF THEM QUICK! It may be hard at first, but it's better than the damage YEARS of popping pills will do to your head/body. Maybe that's why you're so sad after just having a beautiful baby.

i dont think that i am sad because they messed up my brain chemistry, i was only on them about 2 yrs havent taken any meds in almost 3 yrs i think or something (sr y its 5am here lol) but its been a while. post partum depression is an illness and quite common, i dealt with it after my son, although it wasnt so bad nor was it around for a long time so i dealt with it ok. Now i think its worse etc. my husband dont help to much either with it, says my depression brings him down. I felt tons better on meds but i cant get any here yet. My car is in the shop till i dunno when , still waiting on parts from the states. so i cant even go to the clinic or anything without depending on him wich i dont wanna do. I was diagnosed with an eating disoder before they ever said anything about depression that was halfway into my therapy. my therapist just noticed my behavior etc. I was never like happy ever. really had no reason to be happy ya know. but once iwas on lexapro everyone noticed a difference in my behavior and atitude. I guess if u get a crappy therapist or crappy insurance they might do that but i dont think that was the case for me.
