Wow what a detailed description of your problem. Let me shine some light on your situation. Both from my medical/ surgical experience and my personal experience. I to had a herniated L4-L5 disc. Mine actually ruptured and I ended up having to have a mircodisectomy. I to lost some control in my right leg. I even lost the ability to stand on my right toes. Your PCP is not treating you properly and the surgeon is only thinking of a fusion which at a young age should only be considered as a last resort. Physical therapy will help and teach you in ways to control your pain. A chiropractor wont touch you because your back is somewhat unstable. anti-inflammator's were your best bet till you got the ulcer. I suggest you try Ultram. Works great for me but is classified in the opiod category. Althought is not really an opiod. You are probably looking at a spinal fusion years down the road but that should only be considered when your almost bed bound. Most people that have had fusions still complain of back pain. Tylenol is unlikely to help because is has no antii-nfammitory effects. only pain control. I think physical therapy and massage therapy are your best bet right now. You can also try getting a prescription for Ultram. Hope this helps a little.
