Q: Chronic Tension Headaches

I suffer from chronic headaches that seem to be tension type. I feel tightness in my neck shoulders and upper back as well as very sore trigger points. My Main problem as well as having these daily headaches is I suffer from vertigo/dizziness. I do not have a spinning vertigo, it is more of a motion sensation, I feel like I am falling, tilting, swaying and sinking. The sensations can be that of what you would feel riding in an elevator that dropping feeling. I also feel very heavy headed as well as what I can only describe as brain fog! It's as if I am hungover drunk feeling, without the drinking. I walk around all day with this floaty feeling. I am wondering if there are others who suffer with these symptoms as well. And whether or not I should be concerned? Is this common with tension headaches?
I would love to hear any feed back from others any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advance.

Headaches And Dizzyness
I have the exact same thing- for the past 4 months
All my tests came back ok
I'm going to try an orthopedist
I need some new doctors because I don't want to live the rest of my life feeling this way and the doctors that I have been seeing are now telling me to see a psychiatrist- This is not imaginary and I have no anxiety

Extremely eHealthy
I am sorry for the delayed resonse. I personally suffer from tension headaches. ( as well as many others ) Mine begin with tightness in my neck at the base of my skull. It then progresses and eventually ends up being the entire top/back of my skull. They can be quite painful. There are many mild medications that can be proscribed to help the symptoms as well as help to prevent. I take Phrenilin forte when I have a headache to help ease the pain. It comes in two strengths. I also take Zanaflex every night.(I have a problem with gritting my teeth at night) as a preventative measure. I am young and therefore have a very conservative medication schedule. Depending on your doctor, they may be more aggressive. I hope that you are feeling better soon! Keep us updated!

I have just read your posts and they kinda sound like what i'm going through, about 4/5 weeks ago i started to get these weird headaches that i've never had before, pain all at the back of my head and neck and on my temples, they get worse towards the end of the day and by the time I go to bed they are terribly painful and all i want to do is go to sleep. Because i have one short sighted eye and one long sighted eye I thought this might of been the cause but as i've had this for years its probably not! But recently my ears have been hurting and it hurts when i swallow so i'm off to the doc's once again tonight anf hopefully get it sorted! I grind my teeth at night, but never associated the two, that may be a cause.

Hi there

I know what you mean about finding people with the same symptoms, it's so hard trying to explain what its like to my partner! I'm going to the docs once again tonight, 4th time now, how many times did you go before they referred you for a scan? Does yours come and go? mine kinda comes in waves, one minute its not too bad and a few minutes later its horrible, although ibuprofen does help I hate taking it every day, as i'm sure that isn't good for you!

Let me know how you get on with your scan

Hi there

The doctor just looked at me blankly and told me he didn't know what it was, which is really what i didn't want to hear, he gave me some strong paracetomol to take 3 times a day which i did for the first week and the aches got better as they would taking painkillers so i thought i'd ease off them to see if it had any longing effect but it didn't! My temples are really aching recently and nothing seems to be working to shift the pain, its so depressing.

oh well!
