it's called a Perirectal abcess and very common in men. Usually the cause of an ingrown hair that has become infected. you'll need to placed on antibitoics and possibly get it drained. If left untreated you can become very sick and need extensive surgery. Don't mess around! get it taken care of. I won't tell you of the horror stories I've seen in the Operating Room of these things left to long.

Lesion
I would strongly recommend that you go to a doctor, and forget about the embarrassment. I had the same symptoms and was also embarrassed. I finally gave in and went last week, had a colonoscopy and have been diagnosed with anal cancer. It's very treatable, but it will not be a good experience, and if you do leave it alone and don't tend to it, you could risk it causing more harm. Please, please, please put your pride aside and see a physician. Don't take anyone else's word about this being an infected hair or any other sort of issue. Find out for sure, for your own well being and own peace of mind and health.

Great!
I am so glad that this has worked out well for you - I'm sure the peace of mind from knowing it is something relatively minor was worth going. I know how you felt, though - even though medical personnel don't get embarrased by this stuff, and they've seen much, much worse, it is still kind of hard to go and talk to total strangers about some of this. But it is better to be sure than end up with something that gets out of hand. Good deal, Dude!!!!
