Q: Why am I losing eyelash and eyebrow hair?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 21st, 2007
I am losing my eyelashes and eyebrows, its been intermediate, every few months since ive given birth to my daughter who is now 10 months, my doctor advised my iron levels are a little low but doesnt explain why im losing hair on my eyebrows and eyelashes when before pregnancy my eyebrows and lashes were very thick and full.
Can you explain why this is happening and if it is permanent? I have also been trying to lose my baby weight but my weight is staying the same even though i am exercising on a daily basis.

Losing hairs from the eyelashes and eyebrows could be related with the recent pregnancy. There is a condition that is called "post-delivery alopecia". Post-delivery alopecia is a temporary condition and should pass spontaneously. But you should probably visit a dermatologist to confirm the right diagnosis. Low iron levels in the blood may also contribute to the loss of hair.
