I am 14 yrs old and I have acquired HPV through self-sex and it is very degrading. I have gotten the genital warts and am wondering if I should go see a doctor. I have generally lived a respectable life and I do not wish to seek proffessional help or help from my mom unless as a last resort. I greatly regret doing this shameful thing to myself, I was just curious and never knew anything like this would come or else i wounldn't have done it. I have read all the sites on HPV and know it is noncurable and the infection will usually clear after 8 months...First of all, what does that mean? Infection? Does that mean I will still have the virus or warts? I have had this for a year and a half(much more than 8 months) and it has only gotten worse. It has effected my mental health and my social life. I feel like an animal and no one can know why. My self esteem and intelligence were very high before and now the self-esteem has plummeted. I would like to know if this infection will clear on its own (warts and virus?), and if I should seek any help for it. Thanks

P.S. If anyone is having any form of sex in the younger ages or going to, stop and don't think about it until you are older. I guarentee the satisfaction is not worth the pain i went through, even with just HPV...and I know worse things are out there. But if something like this does happen, it will make you feel worthless, trashy, animal-like, and you will regret it just as I have. Please make use of this advice.

When you say "self-sex" do you mean that you just masturbate, but do not do anything else sexual with another person? If that is the case, then there is a good chance that you are fine. Masturbation is safe. You can't really catch anything from yourself. If you do not mean masturbation, then I do not know what you mean by "self-sex."

Warts, or what appears to be warts, is not always HPV. You really cannot diagnose yourself when it comes to that kind of stuff.

Talk to your doctor. He or she would be able to tell you why you have warts as well as if you can get rid of them, how long you will have them, and every other question that you would want to know. All of those answers will depend on exactly why you have the warts, and we can't diagnose you in order to answer those questions. Only a doctor can diagnose you.

I totally agree! Even if you have warts on your hands, your not going to give yourself genital warts.

I can only imagine that "self sex" means masturbation and if that is what it means I agree with the other posters. I really dont think you can get hpv through masturbation, maturbation is totally normal and everyone does it!

Self Sex?
what are you talking about when you say self sex? masturbating? You shouldnt catch anything by masturbating, if you have never had intercourse then I am sure its something else....maybe its just an ingrown hair or something.

Hpv can show up weeks to months after you have sex with someone infected, that is if you do get infected. warts is one form of hpv and can come in different forms, and can go away and then come back years later. you do need to go to the doctor because even though its rare, certain strings of the virus can cause cervical cancer.

Just be safe an smart when you do have sex
