asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 18th, 2007
Ok my question is What do I have possibly and how can i get rid of it???

Last august i ate at work and suddenly had the urge to go to the bathroom not more than 10 mins after i ate. i thought it was because of the food and i had just needed to go. well several weeks go by and i still ahd the same problem so i went to ER and they said it may be a food parasite. After they had taken blood samples stool samples etc. I went to my doctor he prescribed Immodium and such but to no avail. Then suggest CT scan and again nothing showed up. Finally i went and had a COlonscopy done and everything chked out ok but... I still have urge to go time after time especially at work. I sometimes have rectum bleeding but its light. DOc sayd nothing i should worry about since its mild. MY left side makes noises like gurgling sounds and feels liek it goes in spasms. My rectum feels itchy and ahs the urge to go every hour at work. and i feel bloted from time to time only at work.. WHAT IS IT HELP!!!

Stomach, Ulcers, Gastric Bypass, and Colon Disorders Answ
A food parasite would be found in the stool samples. Immodium is anti-diarrhea medication.
Colestid is mainly used to reduce the cholesterol level in the blood but can also be used for treating diarrhea caused by gallbladder removal. Colestid should not be taken in cases of rectal bleeding!
All medical investigations (blood and stool analyses, CT-scan and colonoscopy) excluded an organic reason for the symptoms you are experiencing (infections and tumors). The only possibility left seems to be irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). IBS is a functional disorder that manifests with: constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, gas, belching, heartburn, reflux, difficulty swallowing, an early feeling of fullness with eating, and nausea. Treatment of IBS is very complex and includes: Monitoring (identifying the factors that provoke the symptoms); Dietary modification (avoiding some types of food and increasing dietary fiber); Psychosocial therapies (stress-treatment); Drugs (anti-cholinergic drugs, antidepressants, anti-diarrhea drugs, anxiolitic drugs).
You can consult an internist about your condition, seek out treatment alternatives, and follow up on your condition.
