I'm on the pill and it used to maske my periods milder shorter and less bleeding but the past three months my periods have been as bad or worse than when I was off the pill. Am I becoming immune to this one or is something wrong with me?

I've been on birth control for about 5 years now. Sometimes my periods are light, and sometimes they are really heavy. Don't worry about it. My periods last about 3-5 days. The shorter the period, the heavier it is. :/

Thanks renee, but what concerns me is that my past two periods lasted more like eight days and a bled a lot heavier than normal for me. Do you think I should get checked? I had my last gyno appt just four months ago.

Because you have switched pills, you need to give it some time, a few months at least. I love ortho-lo!

Thanks Eiri. I hope it solves my problems because I'm more tired than normal all the time too from all the bleeding.

You might also be anaemic (low iron) from bleeding more than usual if you are feeling tired. It's quite common for women.

You can eat more iron-rich foods, or you can get a blood test from the doctor to check your iron levels and if they are low then depending on how low they are, your doctor may recommend non-prescription iron (vitamins) or prescription-level iron.

Just for your info, you can't really become 'immune' to birth control pills. But it sounds like you have things under control.

Thanks Anne. I am going to call my ob/gyn and see if I can get in for a test on my iron levels.
