I worked in a school where so many of the children had parents who were illegal. I will never forget this man who was here for 20 years legally, worked two to three jobs and had four children. When he first arrived, he immediately took english classes. He only has a first grade education as he needed to drop out of school to work on a farm. One day, this guy went to the school office and I happened to be there. He was dying to show someone something. It was the school secretary and I who were the first to hear and see the news: he had finally received his paper that made him a legal us citizen!! I will never ever forget his story and that experience. He was in tears showing us his paper. He told me his story before he got his papers and he worked so hard for 20 years. So, here is a man who probably took years to come to the us legally and then spent 20 years to get his citizenship. After meeting him and hearing his story, it makes me very made when other people don't do what it takes to come here legally and they still get benefits. This man deserves to be commended! Everyday he is around illegal immigrants who get a lot of help yet he works so hard for what he has.
