Depressed About My Large Size =[ Posted: 02-16-07 20:28pm
hey guys
i have been kind of depressed for the
last, 3-6 months. I am in 8th grade soon
to go to high school, and I am really tall
and skinny. I never noticed because my
guy friends dont say anything, but once I
got to school on the first day, everyone
was noticing.
I am 14 years old since yesterday, and
about 6 foot. I weigh about 120-140.
Its not that I dont eat, its because I
grow. I am skinny because of my height.
I wish I could be a little shorter, or
atleast stop growing at the height I am
right now. I just dont want to be one of
those guys that are huge and skinny.
Any advice on how to stop growing? Or
how to get a little fatter. My problem
is being skinny mostly, not really height.
I try to eat and get a little heavier,
but I give up, thinking that I am too
tall.
I also tried working out. I dont know if
its making me skinnier or not, I heard it
makes you stop growing at a young age.

I'm the exact same way and i've never said
much about it but the other day my friends
decided to be suckers and started making
fun of it--im 5'10" and weigh 125 pounds.
My friends, who are even skinnier than me,
call me anorexic and stuff even though I
eat more than all of them combined. It's
just fast motabolism, 10 years down the
line you'll be making fun of them because
they'll be 300 and you'll be 180 and
they'll wish they were your size.
Working out probably won't be that much
help making you bigger because there's
nothing to make into muscle. Eat a lot of
protein and get some of that protien
powder stuff to make milkshakes with. Put
in 1 banana, a scoop of protein powder, a
cup of milk, and a little peanut butter a
drink that every morning before you work
out--i gained 5 pounds in a month that
way.
But don't worry about it--you just have
fast metabolism.

I understand. I have never been able to
gain weight. I tried weights, powders, you
name it. The doc says its fast metabolism
and I need to consume more than I burn.
But if I do, I get a belly and nothing
else. If I work out to distribute the
weight, I lose it. I know that people
don't understand but being skinny is the
exact same to a guy that being overweight
is to a girl. Girls are *supposed* to be
skinny, guys are *supposed* to be muscular
and bulky. We all know that people are
different and in no way is being
overweight or skinny a testiment to the
kind of person you are. I know it sucks,
but just realize that we are how we are
and exercise is good but don't spend alot
of time and effort trying to get bigger or
stop growing. You're still young and will
fill out to look more proportioned as you
get older. No worries. Just smile and know
that you won't have to struggle with
losing weight (thats really tough to do!).

I hated growing up and getting called
anorexic when I truly wasn't! I always ate
as much as I could! Best thing to do is
eat two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
every night before bed or buy a weight
gainer from GNC.(I used GNC Weight Gainer
2200 GOLD, works great!) Those are the
only things that have worked for me. I'm
6'1 and was about 140 in high school.
Imagine how I felt..I know how you feel
and a lot of people don't understand that
thin people can be self conscious also.
