Ladies stop douching and using all that smell good caca!! Take a clear bath and then get up use soap but not inside you vagina. I had this once before my doctor says some women will keep them -the other less expensive alternative is go the std clinic in your area usually the health dept has them and they are free as well as the drugs

Was that even in english??????????Number one, don't curse on this site! Number two, bv is not an std. Number three, std clinics (as you put it) are only free to certain people, not everyone.

i have had bv for a couple of years. I get treated and then it comes back every time. Last time I lasted 2 months without it coming back. I was prescribed some vaginal suppositories (which I cannot recall the name right now). I was supposed to use them for three months for 10 days out of the month twice a day. I made the mistake of using them only for one month. I am now using them again and will use them for 3 months now to see if it works. Insurance does not cover them, but they are not extremely expensive. I have tried everything from flagyl to metro gel to everything other medication and it keeps on coming back. My husband thinks it will never go away and it is really frustrating for us. I have tried acidophilus, but that has not helped either.

Can the person who said the yogurt comment let me know how that works and how you apply it. Thanks

Peroxide

I have read that a hydrogen peroxide vaginal wash is very effective not just for bv, but for almost any vaginal infection.

I am in no way, shape, or form a doctor or health care professional. I am in no way, shape, or form able to give medical advice. The following is just an explanation of what I have read on the internet. Please do your own reserach on this type of vaginal wash and judge for yourself if you should try this at home!!!!!!

Here is the link where I read about the h2o2 vaginal wash.

Cotton panties, eat yogurt with live acidophillis--or take acidophillis over the counter pills. This will help intestinal prolums, mouth sores and yeast infections.

Fellow Bv Sufferer...hope This Helps
Posted: 10-07-05 00:00am

Hi ladies...I have been suffering from this frustrating condition on and off for a few months now...Had it a year ago, was given flagyl(pills) for 2 weeks and then a course of cleocyn (vaginal cream ) after that. Things were all clear until a few months ago. I see a bv specialist who told me there is no definite explanation for it, other than a change in vaginal ph (4.5 and above). She told me women are acidic and men(semen) are alkaline, and that semen can contribute to it, but not cause it. She had me use the metrogel for a week, and it didn't work. She has since prescribed a 500 mg, thirty day course of flagyl, which thrilled me to no end. I tolerate it, but, not without nausea and that lovely metallic taste in my mouth.
I didn't take the pills. I researched the 'net and tried hydrogen peroxide douche for a week, which was great until I stopped, then it was right back in a day or so. My specialist also recommended something called gynatrun (sorry if I spelled it incorrectly, but ask a pharmacist for it)which is a hydrogen peroxide based capsule with something like 2 billion i.U.'s of lactobacillus and vaginal capsules. It costs about 20 dollars and is supposed to help. I skipped the flagyl and just used this treatment, but, I don't think I lucked out(supposed to use in conjunction with the antibiotic).
Also, look up enzara...Just got my order today, will keep you posted if it helps or not. If I must take the damn flagyl, then I will, but, it is so bad for your body, i'm trying everything else first. Hope some of this helps...Good luck. :?

Bacterial Vaginosis

I went to herbal store and explained to her the hell of bv, she said when doctors gives use antibotics it kills the infections and also some of our good bacteria. It is not a able to restore anything that it destroys so the infection is still there. After I had been treated for the forth time in 8 months she was my last alternative. She gave a supplement called bifipholus probotic the spelling is probably wrong. I had to take 3 by month and 2 vaginal for 10 days. I know it sounds like a lot but I am proud to say it works. She also told me it is best to treat the body as a whole not just the vaginal area. When we have a infections you can see it on our tongue which means it is in our esphogas and other places, thats why she suggested that I take it orally as well. When put in vaginally at night the infection runs out it is messy and sticky. It might irritant a little but trust me it will pass. I am proud to say I am bv free for 6 months. Every bluemoon I insert 2pill vaginally if I feel a little off balance after my cycle
ladies good luck

Vaginitis
Posted: 11-06-05 21:56pm

I am new to this site and just found it. I have been suffering on and off with female problems for awhile now. I am tired of feeling miserable. I think I have bv. I think all along I thought I had a mild yeast infection and I was given dyflucan and creams but it never seemed to clear it up. I still had vaginal discomfort and pain that would always reoccur. I felt like sex would give me an infection of some kind. I don't know what is wrong with me. I went over the weekend to an urgent care and once again explained my symptoms. I told them I have a friend who is a nurse and she said my sym. Sound like vaginitis and that I may need flagyl. I have been on flagyl before for some bowel problems. 500 mg. This urgent care doctor didn't examine me and said he would be willing to give me flagyl and to follow up with my gyn. The problem is he said once I take the flagyl then a culture won't show if I have bv. I am soooo miserable I had to take it. He only gave me 200mg to take 3x. I am going to up the dose because of the pain. I have been reading all the notes posted about bv on this page. It sounds like bv always seems to come back. Has anyone ever had this once and then cured??? I am sooo frustrated and miserable. I can't even work like this. I also went to a urologist because I have frequent urnination. He said he thinks I have over active bladder and put me on some other meds. I still have the syptoms. Again, no tests were done. Help!!

Fighting a Losing Battle For Years
Posted: 01-18-06 22:18pm

I've been fighting bv for years now. And still no end in sight. The last episode that I treated returned within 2 weeks. I have tried oral and vaginal metronidazole over and over! I've also tried taking an acidophilis supplement for over 6 months now with no improvement. As you can imagine, I am fed up with this infection. I've started researching bv on line searching for alternative treatments or lifestyle changes. I have found a couple of interesting bits of information. Here is a link to what I have found on webmd.

Http://www .Webmd.Com/hw/sexual_conditions/hw53194.As p

if anyone has any further information that might be helpful, alternative/homeopathic remedies or lifestyle changes that have improved your condition, please let me know!

I'm so very sick of this infection.......What's to come next? Something more serious?!

Well, I dont feel any better and tomorrow is the last day on the pills. I dont think the medicene is helping at all but I cant afford to go back to the doctor. What is the difference between a yeast infection and bv? Are the symptoms the same?

When I had bv, I took flagyl. I took one dose of four pills and my brown yucky discharge was gone the next day. But before I got the flagyl, I used a pantyliner to help the smell. Good luck!

Bv Prescription Drugs

Like all of you I diagnosed with bv. My obstetrician-gynecologist give me a neo-penotran for 7 days. My doctor told me to used it for seven days every night before I sleep. And also try to use lactacyd for your daily washing. I feel good. I hope and pray that if you use it you also feel good too.

I had been having pains in my upper left quadrant for about a week. I assumed it was digestive related and made a doctor's appt. She gave me an hcg test and determined that the ph of my urine was 7 (normal is 4). She told me she thought I had bacterial vaginosis and that is what was causing my spleen/abdomin to hurt. She prescribed me flagyl. It totally took me by suprise because I had no symptoms whatsoever. No burning, no discharge and I was sexually active but maybe once a month (with one guy). I took the anti-biotic for a week. The thing that I am paranoid about is whether it's for sure gone and how will I know if I do get it again?? (since I had virtually no symptoms...) I just don't want to let it go untreated and have it lead to pid or something like that.

How often are your bowel movements?
Posted: 04-20-08 16:05pm

I am suffering with the same problem (since Nov. 07) and my doctor actually refused to treat mine after 2-3 re-occurances, and almost accused me of selling or not using the medication. So I found a new doctor and he said he's treated several patients for bv, which is a result of a slow moving digestive system and the bacterial from un-digested foods, is causing the im-balance, he put me on a rx of the equivalant of mira-lax, and metrogel and there less frequent now so I am doing a cleanse which is said to lead to 2-3 bowel movements a day (ultimate cleanse) only 20$ at vitamin world, after the cleanse is down I plan to follow up with a daily digestive enzyme daily and wait and pray
