I have contracted herpes from a victorias secret undergarment over a year ago. I wore the garment and started to get symtoms about a day later, which after rushing to the doctor learned that it was herpes, ironically the irritation started exctly in the area that the thong was pressed tightest on my skin, the area between the vag and anus....Is there anything that I can do about this situation, which I have kept to myself other than the doctor that diagnosed me, for such a long time due to embarassment and fear? Or do I need to just accept that I had a brush of very bad luck which basically destroyed my life for good?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Especially eHealthy
This seems very strange and unlikely that the symptoms would appear after just a day.

I'm not sure how you could prove that the undergarment caused the herpes as you have no pure evidence. You could perhaps talk to the doctor and a lawyer to see if you have a case but I very much doubt it, especially if you left it a while

Hi there sorry to hear about this whole ordeal. First your live isint destroyed...As you will find there are many people with herpes that live a normal healthy life. It really isnt the end of the world or you sex life.

Secondly if you have been proactive about it, keeping track of everything that involves this...Including reciepts, notes of dr visits, notes on the victorias secret undergarments etc id say it would be hard to get a case or anything done about it. You could talk to your Dr. About this or your a lawer but like I said its been awhile.

Also have you been having sex within in the last few years? Its very strange how the body works...You could have contracted this from somewhere eles and it could have layed dormant. Just a thought.

But all in all stay up, you will be fine ^_^

ahhh the "h" bomb..

Well, you are not alone. Unfortunely, I feel your pain, as I have hsv 2. I have never heard of getting herpes from a department store underwear before... Especially victoria secret [my *fave* store] because they usually make you wear your underwear you come into the store -over theirs?

You have to not let this define who you are. [hence my "nickname on here- can you tell I create this account when I first found out I had this probelm? Lol] yes, you have herpes. But you aren't herpes, you are a person that unfortunately got something that is a pain in the (_)_). It's managable... Not curable. In fact, one out of every 5 people has some type of herpes, some don't even know.

Educate yourself-- believe it or not.. There are *tons* of websites on this.. And I know this seems funny but this one : datingwithh.Com - has some informative information. It breaks herpes down in simple terms. Webmd.Com is also another good site. Or do what I am doing- look up support groups for specifically herpes in your state/city. They are most often held in hospitals and are free of cost. You can eliminate breakouts to a minimum, by the foods you consume, to vitamins to prescription drugs. My local urgent care has free samples of valtrex. I know it can be costly.

I'm here for support- feel free to pm me any time Smile feel better soon!
