Q: Balanitis Recovery And Masturbation

Hi
i'm 23, circumcised, and have never had sex, oral or otherwise. For 2.5 years i've had a persistent balanitis problem. Its red irritated looking skin immediately under, and slightly around the meatus.I've tried many otc items in that timeframe to remedy it to no avail.

The problem always worsens after masturbation, even without touching the glans while masturbating.I tried once not masturbating for a 2 month period, that didnt help. And i've come to know anyways, if I don't masturbate for a week i'll have a wet dream, which in turn flairs it up.

I went to a doctor for the first time about my balanitis 12 days ago, he prescribed nystatin triamcinolone. Its helped, though the problem is still there some. The thing is,during those 12 days,i masturbated only once, so this is a factor in the apparent relief.I know if I masturbate the problem will present itself more conspicuously, for the next day(s).

Should I masturbate as I like while following a prescribed balanitis treatment, for there is perhaps a better representation of how affected my glans still is by balanitis?I don't want to go back to the doctor and them treat it as nearly gone, when in reality if i'd masturbated 3x a week or a couple days prior the area would be redder. I dont want them to send me on my way, when if i'd go home and masturbate the problem will present itself conspicuously.I'd like to be able to masturbate more, and I worry about balanitis significantly affecting my sex life/relationships with future girlfriends.

I sincerely and deeply appreciate your response
thank you

Yeah, I would probably suggest masturbating as usual, or as often as you would like to, as that would give you a more accurate idea of whether or not the meds are working and to what extent they are working, unless your doctor told you that you should not be masturbating during the treatment. If this stuff does not work, and you have to get another round of meds from him, you could ask him if you can "carry on your usual sexual routine" or if you should slow down while on the meds just in case. It sounds like it is safe to carry on as usual, however, if he did not tell you otherwise. I assume he would have warned you if you couldn't.

Thank you llewellyn for the message. I had posted this exact same message in the urology forum This link has been removed.. Paid $16 there to post the question to have it answered by a doctor in that forum.. His reply completely avoided my questions about masturbation and the topic of masturbation, or even mentioning the word. It just reinforced for me unfortunately the tabooness of talking of masturbation.. Furthering making me uncomfortable like to talk openly about it with a doctor. Or thats its shameful to talk about it or do.

Wow, that's crazy! I honestly don't understand why some people are so squeamish about this stuff. If you ask your doctor if it is safe to masturbate during the treatment and he gets squeamish, I would consider changing doctors. Laughing if anyone can talk about this stuff, I would hope it would be doctors!
