Q: Plan B

Hi, I was wondering how long it will take for plan b to be effective. Say I had sex on a monday and take the morning after pill the next morning... When will I get my period. Will it effect my bcp? I've only been taking my pills (yasmin) for a week now...

Thanks.

Plan b is effective, and if you took it within 3 days you would have extremely high effectiveness.

Keep taking your yasmin.

You may have spotting or bleeding before your period happens, that is normal.

When you are on the pill, any bleeding you have that is not on your 'placebo week' is called breakthrough bleeding. It is not a period.

That is a hard question, because for each woman it is different.

You may not have any problems until you get to your normal period week on yasmin.

Even though you did take plan b, you should not stop using yasmin.
