Q: Will baby inherit depression?

Doctor Question
I am currently 17 weeks pregnant with an unplanned pregnancy. I have suffered with depression for the past two years and was on medication for it until i found out i was pregnant. I have found my depression has got worse since i got pregnant, I am constantly crying and upset all the time. Will how im feeling affect my unborn baby? Will my baby be unhappy because I am?

Kids usually mirror their parents, especially mothers. If you feel and act depressed, the child can also learn that depression is a normal adaptation to life. You can continue to seek help and might consider individual or group psychotherapy to treat depression.
