Could This Be New Siezures Or Something New? Posted: 02-10-07 17:27pm
I was diagnosed epileptic 5 years ago
after a car accident. I have petite and
grand mal siezures. For the past few
months I have been having terrible dizzy
spells where it felt like the world was
spinning out of control and I would fall
if I didn't sit fast. I would get
seriously nausiated and light headed.
These spells would last for about 10
minutes or so and would happen maybe 2-4
times a month... Untill now I put it on
the fact that I was not feeling really
well and blew the episodes off. Today I
had an episode while I was in town and had
to stay in town due to the fact I was
alone and afraid to to drive home. I also
realized that I had not eaten all day.
Could that be what it was? My fathers
side of the family is all afflicted with
diabetes to some extent. Could I be
laying it on the wrong illness????

hi, do you feel disorientated as well? i
think that this is happening to me but i
have not yet been diagnosed. i often get a
sense of unreality, but no1 around me is
ever aware of this happening, its all
going on inside my brain. I feel really
slowed down when this occurs and if im
talking to someone at the time i find it
really hard to concentrate on what im
talking about. I had an epileptic seizure
when i was 11 and i am now in my early
20's, and have had nothing wrong since
then.
I do believe that food is important. I
would recommend you to grab something that
will give you a boost if you dont have
time to site down and eat a meal when in
town. pick up a fruit smoothie or a banana
or some chocolate to pick you up until you
get something proper. But dont deprive
yourself for too long as you will most
definatly feel weak or feel the lows of a
suger rush. As a student I find myself in
this situation a lot and I have come to
realise that the body and most importantly
your brain cant cope well without
something to eat.

hi,
may i ask what medication you are on?, if
any.
cause i know i was feeling the same way
after my doctor
changed my dose.. prolly about a few weeks
i was feeling that way..
so if that is the case it could be the
meds it may be too high for you..
i may be wrong but its just a suggestion.

What meds ru taking?
My seizures are also as a result to car
accident (head tramma). Happened about 25
yrs ago. I also have peti mal, as well as
Partial Complex Seizures. I've been all
types of meds and just about any
combination there is.
I also have had these dizzy episodes.
They're real scarry. Mine usually happens
when I awake. The room actually starts
spinning on me. Closing my eyes makes it
worsen. I've had these "dizzy-spinning"
episodes later in the afternoon, as well.
Lack of food may well play a role in the
reason this happens. I'm not a doctor;
but, it does make sense. It could also be
the result of the mixture of different
Meds needed to take in order to have a
certain Seizure control level. The side
effects of these different meds that are
combined to achieve a control level can
sometimes be overwhelming.
I'm curious, have you had difficulty with
short-term memory or long-term memory?
I'm starting to notice more and more that
I can not remember certain things. For
example -- passwords -- I usually have no
difficulty at all remembering them; but,
within the recent 12 months, I 've
encountered numerous times in which I
honestly cannot remember a certain
password. This last for 24 hours or so,
then as fast as this memory has been lost,
it seems to come right back. It's real
scarry to think that I can forget such
important data. I 've resorted to leaving
myself index cards with all important info
in a certain location ( just in case my
memory fails me again). This is certainly
something new to deal with.
Take care and good luck!
