My 12 week old won't stop crying... She cries for hours a day... I breastfeed her and it seems like she always has a belly ache... I've tried changing my diet but nothing seems to help! Please, any advice? I don't know what else to do!!! She screams bloodynot a nice act all the time! Isn't it late for a 12 week old to be developing colic??? Help!!!!

I'm sorry that you and her are going through this. It must be hard.

I would probably take her to the doc to rule out any medical issue. Maybe it's reflux?

Thats about the time joseph got colicky it only lasted about 2 mths luckily but omg it sucks, there are lots of things to try , first take her to the dr if u think it may be reflux, they have gripe water at healthfood stores, colic tablets by hylands, a friend of mine with 5 kids said like 2 oz of water and dissolve a peppermint, it helps settle the tummy. I tried everything with joseph, the gripe water worked the best but still he had his moments so its not like 100% gonna make them like all of a suddenstop crying ya know. I know your pain lol. Jordynne has her moments as well with screaming etc

Could be reflux. My son has that and is also intolerant to milk and soy protein-which many babies are. Have you tried eliminating all dairy and soy for at least 2 weeks? It takes 2 weeks to one month for milk and soy proteins to get out of your breastmilk, not many people realize that.

not quite sure what reflux is... I don't drink milk, but I still eat cheese. I'll try and cut that out too.

I would definitley stay away from gripe water, just in case it is reflux. This is why:

one of the main ingredients in gripe water is sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), which is a natural antacid. Unfortunately, on its own sodium bicarb is not a very good antacid, which is why it is not sold as such. The reason for this is that, while it very effectively neutralizes stomach acid, it also activates or "turns on" the acid producing proton pumps in the stomach lining, causing them to produce even more acid. Magnesium hydroxide and calcium carbonate are more often used as antacids because they neutralize acid without turning on the proton pumps.

Because gripe water contains sodium bicarbonate, which can actually cause more acid to be produced, it often provides temporary relief from the symptoms of reflux, but then causes it to come back even worse than before.
