I recently started experiencing symptoms of what I thought was strep throat. My doctor did a rapid strep which came out negative. He also did a throat culture and a mono spot test. My mono spot came back positive so I thought that was it. Three days later my throat culture came back and it was positive for strep. They immediately put me on antibiotics and after a couple days im feeling almost back to normal with no symptoms of anything. My question is, were the results of my mono spot false? If I did have mono, wouldnt I still have some symptoms?
