I forgot all about this post 
The dose was too low for my body, that's why I was having breakthrough bleeding. I stopped taking OTC and my period stopped immediately, it was actually MAKING me bleed, 3 weeks total. I switched to a few other pills before finally giving up last year, the side effects were too bad (the worst one was loss of libido, which 13 months later, is having long term effects).
What pill are you on now? It's possible your body needed the break from the Pill for that one week and your cycle is a little messed up. About 4 months ago I decided to give The Pill another go... another low dose pill and a week and a half into the Pill, my period started. Some pills may not work with your body. I suggest stopping this pill for a week to see if you stop bleeding. Once you stop bleeding, you could start the same pill up again or try another one Pills are hit and miss. Good luck!
