ive never herd of them but they look good and seem to have enough support on the ankles....We use only italian shoes for babies because they have the best support but they also cost a fortune!

The reason they say these shoes are awesome with walking/balance is because of the flat bottoms. There's no ridges, or curves to make them wobble or fall.

Oni's been pulling up and standing barefoot for a while. So I think with these shoes she'll be able to just stand there with no other support.

yeah its very crucial if she is starting to stand that she wear shoes...Support on their little flexible ankels is important...And I guess the bottom too.

I've heard of them but didn't really pay attention other than to recognize the name...

Its weird that you posted this... Cause today I got parenting magazine in the mail and it praises stride rite too!!!!!


The column also says this:

I've never heard of these shoes before, and brayden is 11 months old and he has a few pairs of shoes that he's never worn. My house has all hardwood floors, so he's mostly barefoot because like nat said, better grip and all. I don't want him to wear shoes until he's gotten pretty good at walking, he still falls and stuff and I think shoes will just make it worse at the moment (the falling) and when we go places he never walks anyways, i'm always carrying him or he's in the shopping cart or stroller.

It was funny cuz right after I read this post I got the mail and there was a coupon for these shoes! We have an actual store in our mall so im gunna go check it out

Oni never wears shoes. I think she's worn them about 4 times, and just because they went with an outfit or whatever. She *hates* them! Lol

from what i've heard...They're better than bare feet. Because some feet are highly arched, and can throw off balance. With the shoes, the soles are completely flat and can keep their ankles sturdy.

We don't have any carpet in the house, so when she's barefoot, she clinches her toots on the floor and pulls herself up just fine.

I'm just trying to her to to balance herself without the support of a chair/my legs! Lol

my feet are highly arched- and it is to your advantage-when I did ballet my russian ballet teachers were always talking about how lucky I was, because it actually helps with coordinatin and balance.
Plus that parenting mag was talkng about how bare feet are better cause its more natural so they learn faster.

They say that most babies are flat footed for a while. Hopefully .Oni isn't flat footed forever like me.

It's painful at times. But it never held me back from anything. I was always into track&field.

My mom never put shoes on my little sister unless they were flip flops after the age of one. Then when she went to school my mom would have to fight with her every morning because she didnt' want to wear shoes.

have you tried arch support inserts, .Sarah? My mom's got fallen arches and used to have pain in her ankles and knees all the time, until her Dr. Suggested she try them. Eight years later and as long as she's wearing them she has no pain!

Ive always been told bare feet is the best (but you obiously already know that ^_^)

but I just wanted to add that ive been told (by trevor and his mother) that the first shoes (real walking shoes) my little girl will have are striderites, trevor and all his brothers and sister all had striderites, they swear by them, so im assuming they are good because his mum is very picky about stuff (shes cool, just very picky cause she knows her caca, she raised her son and daughter and trevor and his 4 brothers, and if you met even one of them you would wonder how she did it too lol)

Natalia, how long did you do ballet? I was a lifer until I rebelled at 17/18 and quit. I'm sorry I did that now. It feels like a piece of my life is missing...

Stride rites are the best shoe. They've been around a long long time!!!! They give lots of support in the feet and ankles for little ones learning to walk. They may be more expensive, but they are worth it!!

Personally I think it's best to put shoes on babies to get them used to it. It's also a protective measure.

i did it off and on for like 4 years...And I also became rebellious at like 14 and stopped-and I really really regret it-my body was built for ballet
